SRIPRAKASH BHATTACHARYA posted a condolence

I am the younger brother of ARUN. My elder brother ARUN was not only my elder brother but my Godfather too. He was the eldest among the BHATTACHARYA siblings. His children and grandchildren are my children and grandchildren too. God gave me an opportunity to visit him during the fast part of August 2014. Prior to this, he came to visit us in 2007. He has left behind many flowers in the garden. In addition he has also left behind Mrs. Ujjala Bhattacharya, my Godmother. ARUN was a knowledge hungry person and that's why he probably chose TEACHING as his CAREER & PROFESSION. The more, I say about him the less will be told. Many memories come in my mind which can not be expressed in words. Recently, I read somewhere which says: - "DEATH ASKED LIFE: WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE YOU AND HATE ME. LIFE REPLIED: BECAUSE I AM BEAUTIFUL LIFE AND YOU ARE A PAINFUL TRUTH. The same is true in this case too. I pray to the almighty God to keep his soul rest in peace.

I had great pleasure to know you when you arranged your travels and it was always a pleasant experience to talk with you. I was sorry to learn of Mr Battacharya's passing and want to extend my sympathy to you and your family. It is a difficult time which is an immutable fact of every life. It is comforting that someone has such a sharing life on which to look back. What knowledge exists now that started out in his teachings and what new thoughts will there be because a student built on what he or she learned from him. May you find comfort in your memories and continue to love life on a daily basis. Cami

We convey sincere condolences and prayer-full wishes of sympathy from the core of our hearts to Ujjala, Moshmi, Moumita and other members of the family for this great loss in their lives and hope that they find solace in recounting the happy memories of Dr Bhattchaj, as we called him. We knew Dr Bhattchaj as a real gentleman with a great deal of patience and inquisitiveness about everything in our lives. He would always ask questions when he could not find an answer. He was an optimist and took his physical sufferings with great courage. In the last months and days, his politeness to the visitors was unparalleled even when he was in severe pain. We never found him gloomy; we shall always fondly remember his smiling face. We pray to the Divine that his departed soul is in eternal peace and bliss –the state of Sat-Chit-Anand, when individual soul merges with the universal soul or the Divine. Our Arun-da (Dr. Prof Arun Bhattacharya) has left us (his "priyo Jon" ) and this great loss of one's father, husband , or brother... cannot be consoled by any word s, neither by us nor by any "shastra katha", "Gita" or philosophical thoughts etc, only time may heal this great loss over time. Remembering, Arun-da the first thing that comes to our mind is his decency, courtesy and politeness, which is so rare in our society now a days. We witnessed his great sense of humor even at a time in a hospital bed. His deep knowledge in science, politics and social matters are always reflected by his inquisitiveness and participation during our gathering. We will remember Arun-da forever through our sweet memories and he will live forever in those memories: "keep the death in so much care O! I wrap it inside memory's layer. Who else can keep his life forever!" We are sure Arun-da would have uttered: "one day when death will knock at the door What wilt thou offer to him? And he would have said : "Oh, I will set before my guest The full vessel of my life- I will never let him go with empty hands." Regards, Krishnaasok

Dear Baudi, Bobbie, Andy, Totan, Micah,Himadri, Nanda, Aidan, and Kanan It is with great sadness we came to know that our Dada is no longer with us, although his blessings will always guide us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time. It is true that all of us have to leave, but he left behind a host of qualities and memories for us and they will inspire generations to come. I recall the letter he wrote from Norway before our marriage. He also mentioned the year they left Khulna for India, and the sufferings that followed with it. His letters were touching as well as inspiring. I also remember walking with him at Banaras Hindu University and narrating his lived experiences with vividness. I also remember his stay with us in Honolulu and Wellington. It is a great blessing that we met with him last year and spent several hours talking to him. I always wanted him to visit us with his family as well. He was a rare gem, as he was compassionate, honest, and thoughtful. He always wanted to promote our culture with utmost sincerity, and inspired me to continue my research in the field of comparative philosophy. We convey our heartfelt condolences to you, as you all are members our extended family and did a lot for the comfort of Dada. I do not know anyone who would do as much as you did for him. Words are never adequate to express our deep feelings on such occasions. There are things that we don't want to happen, but have to accept. I am confident his blessings will wipe out the tears, and guide us throughout our lives. He was truly great. Jay, Shipra, Natalie and Maya

Dr Arun Prakash Bhattacharya was a good son , a good father ,a good brother and a good friend who acquitted himself well in every role and responsibility. A man of principles , he took pride in simple living and high thinking. He lived in harmony with deepest values of life. It was his character that gave him courage to be a good human being. He stood up against unfairness and always helped those who were less fortunate. Endowed with superior intellect, he was mentally agile and very sharp thinker who qualified as an Engineer at a young age of 21 years. Apart from being an excellent professional,he was very fond of children and behaved like one with them. He always helped them, cared for them and guided them. Gopal, Bubu,Putul were toddlers for him. He was a strict disciplinarian and equally loving and kind , who instilled higher values of courage , honour and honesty with which we are able to face all challenges of life. We will miss him always and ever , every moment of our life. May his soul rest in peace.
