Erin, words can not express the sadness I felt when I heard of the passing of your mother. Though I had not met her, reading all the wonderful words from those that were fortunate enough in knowing her has shown me that she has done an amazing job in passing these on to you. Nestled between the O'Drowskys and the Goldbys there lived a quite family named Arnotts. One of some 33 families completely divorced from the rest of the world. In 1947 VLA homes were constructed and sold to veterans families. We were 4 or 5 miles from the city limits that being Emery St. Our backyard bordered Wilkins farm . On occasion we were called apon to chase cows out of our gardens. I remember on one occasion my dog (a red/bone hound got loose and ran in circles through the Arnott garden ripping up plants as he went. Lorranine was not happy. Our row of houses sitting in a line from Wellington on 1/4 acre lots seemed the best of both worlds. Isolated from the city and exposed to country living. Surrounded by corn and wheat fields. Beyond the Golbys lived the Lockners then Stewarts. Rolesons lived across the road and across from them the Millers. Mr. ODrowsky used to call Ellen "Pumkin" My recollection of Ellen was that she was a beautiful girl. Very intelligent and happy. Far to intelligent to be interested in the local rabble and watched over by her mom Lorraine who guided Ellen, Tom and Jane through their childhood and early adulthood. I met Ellen and Jane at Mrs. Millar's funeral. I hadn't seen them and nearly 50 years. They both seemed very happy. I wish to express my feeling of sorrow to the Stewart family for their loss.

It is not often that one is blessed to have your daughter marry someone you love, let alone, love his family as well. Jennifer was so lucky to have had one of the world's most fabulous mother-in-laws and I always felt as lucky to love her, too! Well, it is morning. Grey & drab! As I got up today, I thought, I better check my emails to see how Ellen is doing. As I headed for the stairs, I realized I'm not going to hear from her anymore. Even though I've talked to Gord, notified all the staff etc. about our Ellen, I don't think it has totally sunk in yet. The world has lost the sweetest, most caring & most determined woman I think I've ever known. I was lucky to know her for 20 years. She fought all her medical issues with a smile on her face.
