Obituary of Robert 'Bob' Keith Miller
(1932-2020)
With gratitude to the nurses of SMGH for the care shown in his final days, the family of Bob Miller announce the passing of a man of rare talents, in his 88th year. With amazement and joy, Bob put a ring on the finger of the one true love of his life, Estella Marguerite Patterson, on July 23, 1955, and they have loved living together ever since; 64+ years in London, Lambeth and Strathroy. Loving father of Laurie Black and Rob Miller (Brenda Wodrich). Dear grandfather of Kristie (Wil) Jolliffe, Lucas Black (Stefanie Montgomery) and Paul Shuparski-Miller (Leah Shuparski). Cherished great-grandfather of Liam, Andrew, Skylar, Wesley and Ada. Bob is survived by his brother Alfred, sister Marilyn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Wesley and Edna Miller. Displaying artistic promise in his youth, Bob graduated from H.B. Beal Technical School and began a career as a sign painter and sketch artist, first with C.E. Marley Limited and finally with Excellent Signs & Displays Inc., of London. His rich tenor voice was recognized when he sang in church and he was encouraged to join the choir. Upon retirement he took up square dance calling. Bob and Estella enjoyed a full social life with many friends through Lambeth United Church and the many square dance clubs they both ran and attended. Bob was a man of rare patience and his grandchildren will remember the hours he spent with them at play. He was proud to be part of Estella's vast family network. An avid fisherman, gardener, artist and vocalist, his presence will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. A funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. A private interment will be held on Monday at Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob are asked to consider the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or the SMGH Foundation.
