Obituary of Michael 'Mike' F. Cyze
Peacefully, with his family at his side at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, Ontario, we said goodbye to Michael ‘Mike’ F. Cyze on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Michael was born in Paris, France in August 1938. Mike left an impression wherever he went because of his joy of life and sense of humour. As an educator, his enthusiasm shone through all aspects of his life. Mike’s career spanned from being a high school teacher and then vice principal, followed by working in the Ministry of Education as a superintendent in the Ottawa region, and then as Director of Education for the Western Ontario region, and later with the Sarnia French-language Catholic School Board. He cherished nature in all its forms. An avid gardener, Mike loved to sail and to be out in nature. He had a soft spot for every pet or animal he met. Most of all, however, Mike valued his friendships and was passionate about his family. He leaves a legacy of memories, silly times and heaps of love. Mike will be missed and remembered by his wife of 59 years, Marie; daughter Chantal (Greg); son Michael (Heather); grandsons: Alex (Maggie), Jason (Emily) and Blake; and great-grandsons Peter and Henry. For all their help and care, we wish to thank Dr. F. Rubab, Dr. A. Lazo-Langner, the staffs of Middlesex-Elgin VON, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, LHIN, and Victoria Hospital Cancer Clinic and Hematology, and the wonderful volunteers and staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice. A private family funeral service will be conducted. A memorial reception for friends and family will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, February 3, 2020 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mike are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice or the London Regional Cancer Program.
