Obituary of Nora Corinne Hardisty (née Mizzen)
December 7, 1921 – December 5, 2019
Our beloved mom died two days short of her 98th birthday, at Earls Court Village in London, Ontario. We thought she was unbreakable. She is survived by her daughter Jane, of London, and her son Randy and daughter-in-law Kimberly, of Lantzville, British Columbia. She was predeceased by her husband Percy in 2012, as well as her sister and seven brothers who grew up at 88 Forward Ave. Oh, the stories they would tell! Mom would especially like to thank Jane for all the love and care she provided her. She passed on her love of animals and sense of humour to her children. Mom loved to garden at the family home in Oakridge Acres, and took hundreds of pictures to prove it. She chose her obituary photo many years ago, saying that she saved for months when she was still single to hire a professional photographer. She loved the picture. Mom was a bomb inspector during the Second World War, which prepared her for a career in retail, working for decades at Simpsons. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Earls Court for their care and compassion, as well as the staff at Kensington Village where she previously lived. She enjoyed beer night when she lived at Kensington because she got to dance. We would also like to thank the staff at Westview Funeral Chapel. Cremation has already taken place. Mom requested there be no service. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, it can be sent to the Nora and Percy Hardisty Bursary for Community Involvement, care of the Thames Valley District School Board. The annual award goes to a London Central Secondary School student who has volunteered in the community and is going to post-secondary school.
Give someone you love a big hug. Mom would like that.
