Brian Scott Young in his 67th year, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5th, 2019, after a brief but courageous struggle with liver cancer, with his loving wife, Kim Young Eaid, by his side. Brian is predeceased by his parents, Charlotte and Jack Young. He is survived by his wife Kim Young Eaid, his daughter Katy Menard (Bob), his brother, Rick Young (Valerie), his niece Hilary Young (Doug), and his grandchildren, Mia, Alex, Cameron and Jacob. Brian was born and raised in London, but moved to British Columbia in 1998, where he made his home in Esquimalt near Victoria on Vancouver Island until February 2019. Brian loved the rugged outdoor landscape of his adopted province, and he spent many hours in his boat, fishing on Shawnigan Lake and Elk Lake. Thanks to all of Brian and Kim's family members and friends, like his childhood buddy, Dave Peterson, who spent time with him over the past couple of weeks, and who attended their recent wedding. Thanks, too, to the caring staff on the Fourth Floor Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital for making Brian's final days as comfortable as possible. You guys rock! At his request, Brian will be cremated without any funeral service. A Celebration of Brian's Life and scattering of his ashes will be held this summer on a date to be determined. To commemorate Brian today, crack open a beer and drop “Summertime” by Janis Joplin on your turntable.
