Margaret Jordan

Obituary of Margaret Irene Jordan

Passed away peacefully, at the Exeter Villa on Sunday, February 10, 2019, just fifteen days short of her 95th birthday. Margaret was born in Hensall, Ontario, in 1924, the eldest daughter of Herb and Myrtle Kercher. Raised on the farm, she was the dear sister of twins, Doris Jeffery of the Exeter Villa and formerly of Staffa, and Ross, formerly of Hensall, who predeceased her in September of 2015. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) Jordan in July 1957 and together they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, prior to his passing in May of 2018. After completion of high school, Margaret graduated from Westervelt College, London, and began her working career at Supertest Petroleum in London. Most of her working career, however, was spent at General Motors, London, where she worked as an executive assistant. Marg was a classy lady, who always dressed impeccably and appreciated the finer things in life. She enjoyed theatre and loved to travel, doing so extensively with her husband and frequently with her extended family. Beginning in the early years, which included trips to Florida and Expo, she continued her love of travel with numerous cruises, cross country auto trips, and sightseeing tours to exotic global destinations. Many summers, she and Jim would rent a cottage and host family at the lake. Margaret is lovingly survived by her sister, Doris; nieces, Judy Jeffery-Chambers (Gord), of St. Marys, and Ruth May (Steve), of London; and nephew, Bill Jeffery (Cathy Tennant), of Toronto. She was a great-aunt to Jacob May, of Banff, Alberta; Alex May, of Bayfield; Jordan and Joseph May, of London; Janessa and Zack Chambers, of St. Marys; Stephen Jeffery, of Fort McMurray, Alberta; and Sam Jeffery, of Toronto. Margaret was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jim; brother, Ross; brother-in-law, Spencer Jeffery; and brothers-in-law, Bert Jordan, Australia, and Sammie Jordan, of England. Burial has taken place and a private family Celebration of Life service will be held in the spring.
