Obituary of David Derksen

Passed peacefully in London, Ontario, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, on Thursday morning, January 3, 2019, in his 77th year. He has arrived home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, whom he loved and trusted. He leaves behind a legacy of grace, and a vibrant love for the Lord as shown by his care for others throughout his life. He also leaves behind a family that was privileged to know and love him; wife Esther, son Richard, son Paul (Ali), grandson Jonas, sister Linda, brother Marvin (Barbara), and brother Ken (Barb). He was a committed, loving husband, and devoted to his family. David earned his master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario, and enjoyed his career work as a laboratory technologist at London Health Sciences Centre. David will be remembered for his resonant singing voice, thoughtfulness, grace, joy, and above all, his spirit of appreciation and wonder. He will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott McKay, the staff from LHIN homecare services, and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassionate care during David’s illness. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where a memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
