Obituary of Glenn Hunter Dickens

Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, October 20th, 2018, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Josephine Dickens (2009) whom he married on January 3rd, 1952. Cherished father of Rodney Dickens (Catherine) and Timothy Dickens. Proud Grandpa of Sarah Jonathan and Chrissy Antille. Great-grandfather of Missy. Glenn is also survived by his sister Ann Langlois. Predeceased by his siblings Percy, Clifford, Frank, Fred, Dorothy, Margorie, Shirley and Lillian. Glenn joined the Canadian Army in 1941, going overseas in 1943. He went into battle on D-Day (June 6, 1944) and continued to serve in Europe until the war was over, returning to Canada in 1945 for discharge. Glenn enjoyed golfing and had followed, and cheered for, the Detroit Tigers since the 1930s. A committed member of the Byron Optimist Club for over 30 years, Glenn, as a welder, was a proud member of Local 593. Visitation will take place at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Glenn are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex.
