Obituary of Peter James Clarke

It is with great sadness that the family of Peter James Clarke announces his passing after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at the age of 78 years. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soul mate of 59 years, Rita, his children: Debbie, Lorne (Caitlin) and Heather (Allan) Hiebert. He was also adored and will be missed by his seven grandchildren: Rachel, Zachary, Matthew, Matthew-Ben, Rebecca, Theo and Emily. Peter will be forever loved by his siblings: George (Shirley), Bernie (Lois), Mary (Irwin), Jack (Linda) and Jane (Glen). He will also be missed by his wife's sisters and brothers, and their extended families. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter James and Ellen (nee Corbett). Peter was born in Greenock, Scotland on January 12, 1940. He immigrated to Toronto, Canada with his parents and five siblings in 1957. A few short months later on October 6, 1957 he met the love of his life, Rita. The rest was history! They married on January 16, 1960 and in 1967 moved with their three children to London, Ontario. The family would like to thank the McCormick Home Dementia Day Program, especially Helen Jevnikar. Thank you to the incredible nurses and PSWs at PeopleCare Oak Crossing - Juniper floor, especially Mazur, Kara, Bren, Samir, and Deanna, to name a few. Finally, to the doctors and nurses at University Hospital on the 4th and 9th floors, especially to Jon and Luke, thank you for your amazing love and care! A memorial service will be conducted at ST. JOHN THE DIVINE CHURCH, 21557 Richmond Street, ARVA on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation at the church from 12:30–2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Peter are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex.
