Obituary of Dr. Marcelo Kremenchutzky

Peacefully, and with his loving wife, Danine, by his side, Dr. Marcelo Kremenchutzky passed away at University Hospital on Monday, October 1st, 2018. Marcelo was the beloved husband of Danine and loving father to Emma and Noah. Dear son of Sara Buchhalter and loving brother to Eduardo (Laura), Liliana (Miguel) and Leonardo (and his late wife Sandra), and brother-in-law to Kirk. Loving son-in-law to Robert and Monica Pike. Also loved by his dear friend, Marcela Cohen; his nieces and nephews: Kaley, Natalia, Alan, Lucas, Agustina, Julian; and his extended family. Dr. Kremenchutzky was a world-renowned expert in multiple sclerosis (MS) and was involved in the care of thousands of patients and contributed important research in the field. He was also the vice-chair of the Research Ethics Board at Western. Above everything, and most dear to Marcelo, were his family and close friends. His children were, by far, his proudest accomplishments. After being diagnosed with lung cancer, he became a passionate advocate to end the stigma for non-smoking lung cancer patients, and to advocate for access to better treatment and early diagnosis. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in Dr. Kremenchutzky’s memory are asked to consider Lung Cancer Canada.
