Obituary of Peter Brown

Peter, 94, a long-time resident of London and lately of Strathmere Lodge in Strathroy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2018 with his family at his side. Peter was born in Rosenfeld, Manitoba, the 11th of 13 children on May 19, 1924. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean in 2007 and is lovingly remembered by his daughter Cynthia Lynn Brown and husband Barry Blick of Cochrane, Alberta; son Grant and wife Carmen of Vancouver, British Columbia; son Dale and wife Rosanne, granddaughter Eryn, grandson Connor, and granddaughter Jaime, all of the Mount Brydges area; sister Hilda Klassen and husband Jack of Winnipeg; sister Lydia Crundwell and husband Barton of Calgary, and many nieces and nephews. While visiting his oldest brother, Martin and his wife, Olive, in Vancouver, Peter met his future wife, Jean. They married in 1951 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario and settled in Dorchester, Stratford, and then London, Ontario. Always the entrepreneur, Peter purchased Crawford Broom and Brush and encouraged Jean to manage the accounts, bookkeeping and other functions of the business which is now known as Crawford – Brown Supply (Ontario) Inc. operated by his son, Dale. Peter was a Mason and a member of the Nilestown Masonic Lodge #345 in Nilestown, and although he was a tireless worker, he enjoyed golf and swimming, and was, into his 80’s, an avid skier, at the London Ski Club. He was a lifelong member at the Ski Club and served on their Board of Directors for a number of years. The family would like to thank the staff at Strathmere Lodge for their kind and generous support while Peter was in their care. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Peter are asked to consider Westview Baptist Church – London or the London Regional Cancer Program.
