Obituary of Jonathon Burman

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Dr. Jonathon Burman, Ph.D. born February 2, 1976 who passed away on June 7, 2018. Loving husband to Kiyoko for 15 years and cherished father of Isaac. Jonathon is survived by his mother Beatrice Burman, sisters Tanya (Rick), Carla (Mark), adored uncle Steve (Iris), and numerous family members the: Perrys, Tennants, Burmans, Scolniks, Scotts and Hirokawas. He is now reunited with the late: David Burman, Allen Burman, Heather Tennant and Hiroashi Hirokawa. Jonathon was a wonderful man who loved his family, travel, sports and nature. Encouraged by his mother, he was a brilliant scientist whose work in mitochondrial biology, membrane trafficking, and Parkinson's Disease has paved the way for sustained research in labs across North America. Assistant Professor University of Florida, Research Fellow National Institute of Health, and Ph.D. in Neuroscience McGill University, Jonathon’s work and findings will benefit many lives. A Celebration of Life will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Sunday, October 14th, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., with Words of Remembrance at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to a trust fund that will be established for Isaac.
