Les Cooper

Obituary of Les M. Cooper

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at home on Friday, August 10, 2018. Caring husband of Eileen Durkee-Cooper. Predeceased by wife Caroline Cooper (née Boyes). Loving father of Curt (Anne), Blair (Clara), Beth Olive (Keith) and the late Bradley. Cherished grandfather of Laura, Tom (Emily), Rachel, Adam (Jen), Leslie (Mike), Christian, Alexandria (Jessica), Rebecca, and Miranda (Joel). Very proud great-grandfather of Audrey, Owen, and Emmett. Will be missed by canine friend, Amelia. Survived by sisters-in-law Olive, Helen, and Anita (Gord), and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Edgar, Russell, Ken, and Audrey (Harvey). Les will be fondly remembered by his extended family: Linda (Jude), Don (Carol), Jason (Sarah), Brooklyn, and Sloan. Born October 9, 1930 in Rama Township, Ontario, and son of the late Bertha and Oliver Cooper, Les was an active volunteer in local community and church organizations. An avid card player, he was highly skilled at Euchre—some might have said “lucky”—but mediocre at Bridge. Les’s career with RBC spanned 47 years in managerial positions throughout much of Ontario; retiring from the London regional office in 1988. Les requested that each of us celebrate his life in our own preferred way, with no Funeral Services to be held. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Les are asked to consider Riverside United Church or The War Amps.
