Stephen is a great friend to have, though we mainly crossed path around 1990 as we left Western. We were relieved that he and Ruth came to London just at the right time, after the Lord prompted a few of us to start the Asian Christian Fellowship (ACF), alongside the Chinese Christian Fellowship on campus at Western then. Over the years, we kept in touch and Stephen kept me posted about the development of ACF. Over the years, he was involved in our wedding, especially when Joseph, the son in the family, was kind and brave enough to be our ring bearer. Over the years, he proved to be a great counselor and mentor among students. Over the years, he also invited me back to London to meet students at Western ACF, as well as to speak to some brothers about Faith at Work matters. Over the years, with the help of the Holy Spirit, his psychiatry background equipped him well to listen, guide and direct students in this very crucial time of their formative years, defined by Dr James Dodson to be between 16 to 26. The many encouraging and heart-warming messages on the condolences page by former students and even other adults testified to Stephen's wisdom, faithfulness and servanthood. Praise the Lord. Now, we are saddened by his passing, but are looking forward to see him again in eternity to catch up, and to worship our almighty God. May his legacy live on. May those of us impacted by his life carry on his Good work. May the Lord continue to guide His ministry through the ACF at Western and beyond. May God provide the peace in spite of the difficult transition time ahead for Ruth, Joseph and Joyce, as well as to the grandchildren. May the good memory of Stephen comfort us all. Shalom on this Father's day.
