Obituary of Marilyn Richards (née Edgar)
On Thursday, October 26th, 2017, after a courageous battle against cancer, surrounded by love, singing and family at Parkwood Institute, Marilyn slipped into the arms of her Saviour. Although she will be greatly missed, we rejoice in knowing we will see her again. Known for her hugs, big smile and even bigger heart, she always had a smile and encouraging word for everyone she met. Her kindness, generosity and faith impacted all those around her. Marilyn was passionate about helping people, which was evident in her extensive nursing career and as a Pastor’s wife. She was incredibly loving and dedicated - each person and patient was more like family to her. Loved madly by her husband, Rev. Douglas Richards. Cherished mother of Pastor Dan (Amy), Becky Mathieu (Mike), Kim Ykema (Jeremy) and Tim (Tara). Adoring grandma to Caleb, Jonathan and Shelby. Deeply missed by her siblings, Margaret Gregory (Jim), David (Lynda), Bob (Sharon), Elizabeth Bell and sister-in-love, Monica Edgar. Fondly remembered by the entire Richards family; all her nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear friends and her Gateway Church family. Marilyn is now reunited in Heaven with her parents, Sydney and Jean Edgar; sister, Heather Ingram (Michael); brother, Ken; brother-in-law, Fred Bell and niece, Kristen Edgar. Visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. The funeral service will be conducted at GATEWAY CHURCH, 890 Sarnia Road, London on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Private inurnment at Woodland Cemetery. Special thanks to the amazing staff at Parkwood Institute, the oncology team and all the medical staff at Victoria and Strathroy hospitals.
