Obituary of June V. Rice

Passed away peacefully at University Hospital on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in her 93rd year. Beloved war bride of the late Clarence “Eddy” Rice (1981). Devoted mother of Graham (Phyllis) of Hamilton. Loving grandmother of Gus Rice (Melissa) of Vancouver. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in England and Canada. Predeceased by her parents, Rebecca and Thomas Welton, her sisters, Florence Dixon, Ann Sauvé, Eileen Swift, Kathleen Buckley, Mavis Cockburn and her brothers, Arthur and Terrance Welton. June was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1964 and a devoted member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church as well as the First Hussars Association. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 p.m., with a Beta Sigma Phi Sorority tribute at 1:45 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the Church of St. Jude, 1537 Adelaide Street North, London on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Arva. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of June are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Church of St. Jude or London Health Sciences Foundation-cancer centre.
