Obituary of Dr. John Edgar Curtis

Born March 22, 1937 in Truro, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, son of Edgar Marshall Curtis and Ella Antoinette Ferrand. He was married in 1963 to Dorothy Bernice Fournier. John graduated in Medicine from Dalhousie University that same year. He went on to study Hematology at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. From 1970 until 1998, John practiced medicine at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Subsequently, he led the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre until completing his career as the Director of the London Regional Cancer Program. He remained active in public service through work with the London Salvation Army and as a member of the Alzheimer Society of London and Middlesex. He is predeceased by his wife Dorothy, who passed in 1997, five years after the untimely death of their first son Peter John Curtis. He is survived by his son Philip Edgar Curtis and his wife Irina; and by his son John Andrew Curtis and his wife Lisa, and their children Ella and Peter. He is also survived by his brothers Gary Marshall Curtis, David Ferrand Curtis and their families. John is remembered fondly by many former patients, colleagues, family and friends. The funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior.
