Obituary of Mario Cardoso

On Saturday, October 19, 2019, surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle, in his 73rd year. Born November 20, 1946 in Parada de Cima, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in May 1975. Cherished husband, best friend and life companion of Rosa de Lurdes for 54 years. Beloved father of Elisabete (Steve) and Victor (Susan). Proud Avô of Mathew, Sophia, Madeline and Davin. Survived by his sister Celeste and brother Augusto. Predeceased by his sister Rosa. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends and extended family from Portugal, Germany, France and England. Mario was fondly known to many that loved him as “Mario da tia Láu”. He loved the outdoors and nature. Mario was a proud member of Homens e Navios do Bacalhau. Mario is now on his final voyage home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to be alongside with his family. A special thank you to Dr. Stuart Smith and the nurses at the University Hospital ICU. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, with prayers at 5:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY CROSS PARISH, 10 Elm Street, London on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., followed by entombment at St. Peter’s Cemetery and Holy Family Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Mario are asked to consider the Holy Cross Parish.
