Obituary of Mildred Savage
Mildred Savage (Edgar) died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at home in London, Ontario on May 31st, 2017, in her 95th year. Mildred will be dearly missed by her daughters and their families: Pat Harper (Scott) of Aurora, Sandra Savage (Barry Sandler) and grandchildren: Emily Harper and Charlie Sandler, Laura and Andrew Sandler. She will also be missed by the many old and new friends, relatives and dear cousins whose lives she touched with an abundance of love, caring and acceptance. She is predeceased by her siblings, Walter Edgar, Margaret White, Jack Edgar, Rae Morgan, her twin sister Muriel Edgar, and by her beloved husband Art Savage. Born in Saskatchewan, Mildred was raised near Trenton, Ontario, following the death of her mother at age six. Mildred bravely set out to find a new life in Toronto at the age of 19 and flourished in the big city, where she met the love of her life, Art Savage. They enjoyed 25 years of marriage and partnership before Art passed away suddenly in 1972 at the age of 53. Mildred lived with daughter Sandra and her family in London, Ontario for the last 12 years of her life, where she was blessed with many new friendships and was embraced by her spiritual family at Byron United Church. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8th, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. A Celebration of Mildred’s Life will be held at Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London, on Friday, June 9th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. For those who wish to remember Mildred, a memorial donation may be made to the Byron United Church or CNIB.
