Obituary of Betty Poels-Ruyter
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Betty Poels-Ruyter of London. Betty passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 23rd, 2017. Betty was born in Oeffelt, Netherlands to her late parents Antoon and Anna Poels. She is survived by her husband Peter Ruyter, to whom she was married for 52 years. She was the loving mother of Annette Ruyter (Nick) of Taiwan, Jeff Ruyter (Jehan) of Maple Ridge, BC, Petula Ruyter (Lorne) of Chestermere, AB and Luke Ruyter (Carrie) of Lucan, ON. Proud Oma of grandchildren: Jason, Eric, Andrew, Ashley, Kyle, Jeremiah, Mackenzie, Olivia, Jaxson and one great-grandchild Lillith. Sadly missed by her sisters and brothers. She is predeceased by brother Toon Poels, sister Joan DeBrouwer, brother-in-law Harry Bongers and sister-in-law Diane Poels. She is survived by sisters Mary Bongers of Niagara Falls, Ann Marie & Bernie DeBrouwer of Morpeth, Josie & Willy Fransen of London and her sister-in-law Jeanne Poels of the Netherlands. She is survived by her brothers Jan & Truus Poels of the Netherlands, Piet & Diel Poels of the Netherlands, Jack Poels of Thamesford, Jerry & Margaret Poels of London, Cor & Betty Poels of Highgate, Wim & Diny Poels of the Netherlands and brother-in-law Chris DeBrouwer. She brought love and laughter to everyone. The celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Any act of love or kindness will be a fitting memorial to Betty or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
