Obituary of Olive May Getsinger (nee Lucas)

Passed away peacefully at Extendicare London on Wednesday, March 8th, 2017, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Wilfred (1975). Loving mother of Nancy (Paul) Stephenson and Wayne Getsinger (the late Kathy). Cherished Grandma of Christopher (Victoria) Stephenson, Veronica (Scott) Brown, Heather Stephenson (Matt Gove), Jessica Getsinger and Jackson Getsinger. Proud Gee Gee of Lauren and Kate Brown; and Dylan and Damon Gove. Dear sister of Louise (Joseph) Vernile. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son David (1958), her parents Peter and Margaret, and her sisters: Joan (Bill) Appleby, Betty (Alexander) Dahl, Helen (Ed)Harpur and her brother-in-law Russell (Peggy) Getsinger. Always young at heart, Olive May loved to dance, knit, sew, play her cello, and share her love of music with her grandchildren. As a young woman, she worked at Jones Box and Label in London and St. Thomas. She was a huge Blue Jays fan. Olive May enjoyed her time at the cottage, the beach, camping and long drives in the country. The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare for their care and compassion. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Olive May are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes Association, the London Regional Cancer Centre or their charity of choice.
