July 31, 1936 – February 8, 2017 At Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Late of Oak Park La Salle Retirement Home. Predeceased by her parents William and Pauline. Beloved sister of Bill and the late Ruth; dear aunt of Debbie (David) Cousens, Calgary and survived by numerous cousins. Best friend of Heather Holmes. Marilyn was a Physical Education teacher, starting her career at Stamford Collegiate in Niagara Falls and after moving to Windsor, taught for many years at Walkerville Collegiate and Kennedy Collegiate. She was an avid golfer and was a member of Kingsville Golf and Country Club for over 35 years. Marilyn loved to play bridge and played in many tournaments in Canada and the United States, earning her Bronze Life Master. Shetland sheepdogs found their way into Marilyn’s heart and over the years, she owned four, each of which gave her tremendous joy and companionship. Our thanks to the staff at Oak Park, La Salle, Dr. Darren Peterson, and the doctors and nurses at the Cancer Clinic, Hospice, CCAC and Bayshore for the care given to Marilyn over the years. Special thanks to Darlene, Donna and Laurie and the nurses on the 4th and 5th floors for helping to care for Marilyn while in hospital. A private service was held with interment at Woodland Cemetery in London. In kindness, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice of Windsor & Essex County or the Humane Society of Windsor/Essex County.
