Obituary of Margaret Henderson

While surrounded with love and support, Margaret (Bower) Henderson peacefully passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 a month away from celebrating 102 years of age. Thankful to have been part of her family are daughters Beth Miehls (Dennis), Sunderland, MA, Clare Bloxam (Brian), Sarnia, Ontario and grandchildren, Judith Ross, Barb (Ross) Milne (Fred), James Miehls, Kelly Bloxam-Rooke (Brian), Kevin Bloxam and great-granddaughter Jessica Milne. Margaret also had several nieces and nephews of the Murray, Bower and Henderson clans. With out-stretched arms to greet her in her journey are husband William (2003), daughter Helen Ross (1989) and grandson Daniel Miehls (1986). Margaret was the daughter of Harry and Lottie Bower (predeceased by sister Helen Murray) of Ingersoll. Margaret worked as a bookkeeper in a hardware store in Ingersoll, while actively involved with numerous organizations and sports including tennis and the local gun club. (Margaret proudly was recognized for her 70 year IODE membership in 2015). Margaret and Bill met in Ingersoll and were married for 61 years. They were active charter Members of Oakridge Presbyterian Church in London, Ontario, where they raised their family and enjoyed the fellowship, love and support from so many friends. Margaret was involved for many years lending her support to committees and group work at OPC, including the Sunday School, Explorers and CGIT, W.A. and Quilters. The cottage that they built near Bayfield was a cherished place to go for many family events. Margaret moved to Inspirit Residence when she was 96. She cherished the care and activities there. With that in mind, the family would like to sincerely thank the Inspirit staff for their tender love and support, for being Mom's 'other' family. Thank you also to Dr. Moore, St. Elizabeth Paramed and VON. You are all appreciated. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Ed Hoekstra, Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at OAKRIDGE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 970 Oxford Street West, London, with visitation one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Mission Services of London, the local food bank, Oakridge Presbyterian Church Benevolent Fund, Oakridge Presbyterian Church Memorial Trust Fund or a charity of your choice.
