Obituary of John Richardson Hare

Peacefully, at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, October 15, 2016, in his 80th year. Son of the late Capt. Henry Walsham Hare “Buster”, and Maxine Compeau Hare (née Richardson) “Bubbie”. Loving father of John-David A. Hare (Sharon), and Kristin E. Lail (Bob). Adored grandfather of River, Raif, Jasmira and Harleen. Predeceased by his brother Patrick Mather Hare (2014). John was born on March 1 (St. David’s Day), 1937 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The family moved back to London in 1939 when war broke out. He was educated at south London schools and Huron College. John was employed by the Department of Highways, London in 1961. Later, he was transferred to Toronto where he was the senior arbitrator in charge of settling in- and out-of-court land compensation claims that could not be negotiated amicably. After 32 years of service to the Ontario Government, he retired in 1994, and returned to London. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for the excellent care from the staff of Elmwood Place, and Critical Care Trauma Centre at Victoria Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Interment at Christ Church Cemetery, Port Stanley. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of John are asked to consider the Boys and Girls Club of London.
