Obituary of Joan Robertson
On Thursday, May 5th, 2016 at Victoria Hospital, Joan in her 92nd year passed peacefully following a short illness. Joan is predeceased by her loving husband, George and survived by her dear daughter, Lynn and her husband, Mike and much-loved grandsons Connor and Adam. Also missed by several nieces and nephews in Scotland, Australia and Norway. Joan was born and raised with her sister, Pat, in St. Austell, England by loving parents Lottie and Herbert Moseley. Joan bravely struck out for Canada on her own in 1956 where she soon landed a secretarial job working for the US Corps of Engineers in Goose Bay, Labrador where she met and married George, her beloved husband of 56 years. George's job took them to Yoho National Park in B.C. where their adored daughter, Lynn, was born. They then travelled half a world away, returning to Joan's roots in England where they stayed for 2 years before returning to Canada to finally settle in London, Ontario in 1965. Joan and George spent 40+ happy years in the Norton Estates area of London where Joan enjoyed tending her beautiful gardens and cooking up a storm. Post retirement, Joan and George enjoyed many trips here and abroad and loved nothing more than visiting their daughter's home in Cave Creek, Arizona to see their beloved grandsons. Joan was always eager to learn new things and was always engaged in some class or other, learning carpentry, pottery, yoga and painting to name a few. Joan will always be remembered as a strong, independent woman with a kind heart and a good ear for listening. She was well loved and will be missed so very much. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Joan's life will take place at a later date.
