Obituary of Pat Harris
Mum who was loved and adored as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, “gramma”, and friend, has taken her indelible spirit and zest for life to a better place. The nearly three-year battle against multiple pneumonias and a stroke came to a peaceful end on Friday, August 23rd, 2019 at the age of 93. Affectionately given the nickname “Giggles” by Ryan on the UH Stroke Unit, it represents how she lived life and fought to the end. Left to mourn and cherish their memories are kids Judy and Phil, sisters “Bubbles” and Alice, niece Linda, Kathy and Dave, Jenn, Catherine and Bella, “Twinkletoes” (Dipika), the Ferris and Bowman families, Daisy, and many nieces and nephews. Mum was predeceased by husband Roy, son Patrick (“Harry”), and six siblings.
Her most significant loves were family, friends she considered and treated like family, and nursing. She was many people’s best friend and it was the importance of these relationships that made her want to live another 90 years. Her life was enriched by many interests including; gardening, shopping (for mum an Olympic event) for that perfect gift and card or clothes with matching jewellery, travelling, Christmas, volunteering, reading, baking, music, watching sports and Project Runway, planning, attending or hosting parties, writing letters and yapping on the phone. The last three years were brightened by dear friends Maggie, Karla, Jennifer and loving friend Patty.
We would like to acknowledge the exceptional care provided by the ACE Unit at Victoria Hospital, Stroke and ICU Units at University Hospital, 4th floor Rehab Unit at Parkwood Hospital, Dr. David Munro, and Dr. Andrew Whynot. We will be forever grateful for the compassionate and loving care provided by the incredible staff in the Westminster neighbourhood at The Village of Glendale Crossing.
Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London at 9 am on Saturday, October 12th, 2019 followed by a funeral service at 10 am, and a Celebration of Life at the Mount Pleasant Chapel, 303 Riverside Drive, London until 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Boys' and Girls' Club of London, 184 Horton Street East, London, ON N6B 1K8 and would be gratefully appreciated. She was an avid supporter of kids and always took pride in the efforts of her swim team.
