Obituary of Sandra Jane Horodyski (née Scrimgeour)

With heavy hearts, we announce her passing at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, on Monday, November 9, 2015, after a very short, but brave battle with cancer. Sandy will be forever loved and missed by her daughter, Melissa, and the joy of her life, her grandson, Camden. She is predeceased by her husband, Ernie Horodyski. Sandy is the daughter of the late Roy and Isabel Scrimgeour, and dear sister of Patricia Jackson (George) and Bonnie Lyons (Roy). She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Her faithful dog, Charlie, provided her with comfort during her battle. Her friends, Jane Hauser, Margaret Mish and Liz MacKinnon miss her dearly. Sandy worked at Labatts for many years and then went on to work for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada until her retirement. She loved her: gardens in the summertime, Book Club, Prayer Group and Bridge Club friends. Sandy will be fondly remembered as a kind, caring and generous woman. Her courage and humour through this battle, stand out as a testament to the wonderful person she was. Her spirit will live on in all who loved her. A very special thanks to Dr. Kirk Hamilton, Dr. Stephanie Roman and VON home visiting staff. Thank you to the amazing staff and volunteers of St. Joseph’s Hospice, for your compassionate and wonderful care for Sandy. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at WINDERMERE ON THE MOUNT CHAPEL, 1486 Richmond Street, London, on Thursday, November 12, 2015, with Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., and visitation one hour prior. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, and reception at Windermere Manor. Donations in memory of Sandy may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice, London.
