Ted was born in Portsmouth, England on January 4, 1925 and was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice, sister Vera and brother Wally (who was killed on the HMS Penelope). Beloved husband of Marjorie for 70 years. World’s best Dad and father-in-law to Lynda (Michael), Sandra (Gord), Mike (Donna), Mandi (Bob, predeceased), and Debbie (Mike). Loving Grandpa to Ashley (Dylan), Adrian, Nicole (Jeff), Derek (Ashlea), Jay (Tera), Eric (Tiffany), Rob (Jackie), Erin (Shawn), Matthew (Fiona), Meghan (Chad), Andrew and Mackenzie. Greatest Great Grandpa to Emmersyn, Parker, Arya, Brennden, Thomas, Anna, Michael Jr., Tionna, Taya, Derek, Colton, Nolan, Averie, Anna, Landon and Chloe. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in England and the United States. Ted graduated from the British Naval Academy and served as an engineer in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy for 6 years. In 1957, with his wife and 4 children, he immigrated to Canada where another daughter was born. Ted was a hard and very conscientious worker becoming a professional engineer whilst working and schooling simultaneously and graduating from U of T. After retiring from York University in 1984, Ted and Marjorie moved to Kelowna, B.C., where they lived for 18 years before relocating back to London, Ontario. They had always enjoyed venturing to many countries and continued to travel in retirement as well as wintering in Arizona with many great friends. Many thanks to Dr. Shadd, Dr. Kim and the ultimate caring nurses, volunteers and the staff associated with the Parkwood Palliative Care Unit on the 5th floor. Your compassion, love and genuine caring ways will not be forgotten by Marjorie and family. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Parkwood Palliative Care Unit or the Parkwood Institute/St. Joseph’s Centre for Cognitive Vitality Alzheimer’s Research (Dr. Michael Borrie).
