Obituary of Carolyn Robertson

Peacefully at University Hospital on Friday, March 20, 2015, Carolyn Robertson, of London. Beloved daughter of the late Leone St. John and the late Russell Robertson. Dear sister of Tim (Sharon) Robertson, Sheila Boulton (Robert Kyle) and Russell (Lynda) Robertson. Loving aunt of Tim (Terri), the late Stephen (Angie), Lisa (Bruce) and Kelly; cherished great-aunt of Kelly, Holly, Shannon and Jake. Honorary aunt of Elizabeth and Andrew. She will also be truly missed by Angie and Dennis Jewlal and many treasured friends. Carolyn was a devoted and dedicated teacher and librarian for over 30 years at F.D. Roosevelt, Westmount, Northridge, Princess Elizabeth and Sir Winston Churchill Public Schools. She served in a number of critical roles on the executive for the FWTAO and the RTO/ERO - District 8. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the board of directors of the Women’s Canadian Club, London, and volunteered for the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, St. Marys, ON. She was an editor extraordinaire! She was also a proud volunteer with Team Wagoosh for the 2001 Canada Summer Games. Carolyn loved her 2 cats “Nicky” and “Patty-Cat”, her favourite baseball team (the Blue Jays), and was passionate about nature and wildlife, faithfully feeding the wild birds and carrying dog biscuits to give to her canine friends at her apartment complex and in the park. She kindly and quietly cared for others in need. She found joy in singing as a member of the London Teachers’ Choir and the Intergenerational Choir Project. Carolyn was an incredibly bright woman who appreciated the finer things in life: travelling, hiking, tasty food and drink, book clubs, bridge, theatre, art, and music from jazz to the classics. A commemorative bench and tree plaque will honour Carolyn’s memory and will be placed in Springbank Park, which she visited daily for her runs and exercise. Special thanks to the staff at Earls Court, Highview Residences and Dr. Sheri-Lynn Kane at Parkwood for the care and kindness provided to Carolyn. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, where the Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Carolyn are asked to consider ALS, Parkwood Institute’s Dementia Care Program, the Salvation Army or the London Humane Society.
