Obituary of Katarzyna "Katherine" Klamut (née Grochalska)

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at her home, on Saturday, February 14, 2015, in her 91st year. Loving wife of the late Henryk (2008). Dear mother of Henry, Mary Anne and the late Michael (2012). Cherished Babcia of Andrew, Kristyn, James, Julian, Paulina and Michael. Predeceased by her sisters Marysia of Poland and Helena of Lebanon, and brother Jozef of Poland. Katherine was born on April 14, 1924 in Mariampol, Poland and was a survivor of the Kresy deportation of Poles to Siberia, during WWII. After the war, she settled in Windsor with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother (babcia), and a fabulous cook. The best pierogi, pizza and pizzelle ever! A special thank you to the Alzheimer Society of Windsor, Manuela Popescu; who helped us incredibly along this journey, Cherry Villordon; for her unending dedication and support, and the CCAC of Windsor and London. The visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The funeral mass will be conducted at WINDERMERE ON THE MOUNT CHAPEL, 1486 Richmond Street, London, on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Windsor. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Katherine are asked to consider Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County.
