To Lori McNicol: We have never met, but after much thought we felt that we wanted to convey our sympathy to you even though you don't know us. We were very moved when we read of your loss in the Free Press, as we lost our son-in-law last November at age 43, also from head and neck cancer. He also faced his 2-year journey with unimaginable strength and courage, and he never lost his sense of humour or ability to make sure that everyone he loved was at peace. Like you, our daughter (whose name is Laurie too) has two children, and they were always included in the journey which has so enabled them to accept the loss of their father. I feel from reading the notice in the paper that your children were very much included as well, and our prayer for each of you is that you hold onto the love and the wonderful memories you have to get you through this difficult time. We hope we aren't being intrusive but we are sending this with true caring and sympathy for your loss. We feel it deeply- heaven now has two incredible angels.
