Obituary of Peter John DeGelder, Sr.

Peacefully with his family at his home on Friday, January 9, 2015, Peter John DeGelder, Sr., of Mount Brydges, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Rita (Vanderstelt) DeGelder for 57 years. Loving father of Arthur (Gerry) DeGelder, Judi (Brian) Ginty, Jack (Kathy) DeGelder and Peter DeGelder. Dear brother of Jack (An) De Gelder and Hetty (Jelle) Veenendaal. Dear brother-in-law of Joop Anker, Mary DeGelder, Janny Vanderstelt, Jenny VanEgmond, Bob (Betty) Vanderstelt, Arie (Tini) Vanderstelt and Wilma (John) Mantel. Also loved by his grandchildren: Kelly (Jason) Bartsch, Charlotte (Al) Shirley, Stephanie (Jared) Gelderman, Bernadette Mueller, Sharon (Rick) Barron, Alex DeGelder (Renee Gahn), Evan DeGelder (Gemma Curtis), Grace DeGelder (Dylan Rodriguez), Katie DeGelder, and Abby DeGelder; and by his great-grandchildren: Madison, Payton, Aubrey, Emily, Anna, Kyle (Meagan), Alicia, Alexis and Hunter. Survived and missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Rien DeGelder; his sisters Truus Grootendorst, Janny Hoogendoorn and Bep Anker; and his brothers-in-law Hugh Hoogendoorn, Pieter Grootendorst, Tony Vanderstelt and Peter VanEgmond. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. A Memorial Service will be conducted at HOPE COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 22636 Adelaide Road (Hwy. #81), Mount Brydges, Ontario on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
