Obituary of Joseph 'Joe' Gerald Malone

Peacefully on Saturday, November 1st, 2014, the day after celebrating his 91st birthday, with his family at his side at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. Devoted husband of 62 years to Rita (née McGee) Malone. Loving father of Mary (Oliver) Whitehead, Kathleen (Derek) Montpetit, Brian (Betty Matthews), Joanne (Jonathan) Creaghan, and Donna (Jamie) Loucks. Cherished Grandpa to 11 grandchildren: Jonathan (Leila), Beth, Ian (Sarah), Katharine, Anne, Matthew, Claire, Spencer, Connor, Aidan, and Caitlin. Predeceased by infant son Joseph, parents Joe and "Babs" Malone and siblings Bernice and Don. Joe was a graduate of McGill University, and a Chartered Accountant at Nortel in Montreal and London, ON, and at CPRI in London, ON. He was a proud veteran of World War II where he served with the RCAF. Joe was a selfless volunteer at multiple organizations, including more than 20 years with CPRI for Operation Bookmark, and was a lifelong Habs fan … for obvious reasons. Friends will be received by the family at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. JOHN THE DIVINE PARISH, 390 Base Line Road West, London, on Thursday, November 6th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to express remembrance may consider donations to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Spinal Cord Injury Ontario or a charity of your choice.
