Obituary of William M. Dobell (Prof. Emeritus)

Peacefully on Saturday, October 25th, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospice (London), in his 86th year. Beloved husband and cherished companion for 53 years of Eileen (née Whelan). Loving Dad of Mark Dobell and Jessica, and Diane Jamieson and Andrew. Much loved Papa of Erin, Nicole and Mark Jamieson. Brother of Peter Dobell and Jane. Brother-in-law of Terry Whelan and Joanne, Brian Whelan and John Whelan. Predeceased by his parents Sydney Dobell and Mary, and by his sister-in-law Doris Whelan. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was a dedicated professor of political science for over 30 years at U.W.O., specializing in Canadian Foreign Policy and International Relations. The family extend their deepest gratitude to the nursing and caring staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, October 30th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
