Bryan Symns

Obituary of Bryan Symns

Passed away Monday, October 20th, 2014, close enough to the beginning of his 90th year: an age he so desperately wanted to reach, that we're going to say he made it. Husband and companion to Jean Law. Loving father to Ken (Brenda) and Lynda Burns (Sean). Predeceased by wife Margaret (2004). Survived by six grandchildren: Michael, Melissa, Nicholas, Brittany, Kathryn, Alison and six great-grandchildren. Bryan was a short-lived but proud member of the Nantwich Constabulary following the war and before emigrating to Canada. He enjoyed a long and accomplished career in the insurance industry with the United States Fidelity & Guarantee Company, heading up their office here in London. He was a passionate and attentive gardener (famous for his roses, astilbe, rhododendrons and delphiniums) and a prolific and talented painter and imaginative model railroader. Bryan was an enthusiastic and committed member of the Oakridge Presbyterian Choir for as long as he could be. An avid yet somewhat awkward golfer who hit it straight down the middle every time, right to the end. Survived by his loving older sister Marjorie Gormley, who can always bring levity and quipped, "Well, he always wanted to be first at everything". Many thanks and much love to the 4th floor staff at Mount Hope Long Term Care: you are amazing! The family will be holding a private ceremony. Interment at Oakland Cemetery with Margaret.
