Obituary of Edward Joseph Debevc

With loving family by his side, Edward, husband for 60 years of Mary Caroline, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, at Victoria Hospital, London. Edward was formerly a long-time resident of Windsor. Survived by his children Edward (Heather), of Prince George, B.C., Kathryn, of London, ON., Caroline Minne (Doug), of Stoney Creek, ON., Thomas (Melissa), of Chatham, ON., and Teresa Cantalini (George), of Edmonton, AB. Cherished Grandfather of Adam, Kelly, Jennifer, Serena, Mathew, John, Susan and Mark. Also survived by sisters Olga Mallat (the late Gerry) and Elizabeth Labonte (Ed); sister-in-law Olga Smith; brothers-in-law Fred Smith (the late Ann), Edward Smith (Barbara), George Aqwa, Gilbert Charest; and sister-in-law Louise Kelly. Predeceased by his parents Louis Debevc (1986) and Josephina Debevc (1974); his sisters Hermina Aqwa (2002) and Minka Charest (2005); and by his brother-in-law Thomas Smith (2000). Edward was a proud graduate of the Henry Ford Trade School (1953) and retired after forty years of service at The Ford Motor Company in Windsor. He was a past volunteer with both Habitat for Humanity and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., with prayers at 3:30 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MICHAEL’S PARISH, 511 Cheapside Street, London on Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Edward are asked to please consider the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul or the Canadian Cancer Society.
