Obituary of Dr. Franklin G.E., MD, FRCS(c), MRCOG King

Of London, died peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Thursday, March 6th, 2014 at the age of 97. Because of a shortage of doctors in the armed forces, in 1942, as a medical student he and his entire class including the girls joined the Canadian Army. This class then graduated in 1943. After graduation, Dr. King served in the RCAMC in Canada, England and Germany. In 1947, he was discharged from the Army in England and then began a program of Post Graduate study in obstetrics and gynecology at the British Postgraduate Medical School, Queen Charlottes Maternity Hospital, Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital and Chester City Hospital. He returned to Canada in 1952 to join the Medical Arts Clinic in Regina and then returned to Ontario in 1955. An avid golfer, was a member of Weston Golf and Country Club for over 30 years. Survived by his loving wife Jo-Anne of 32 years and two sons Martin of London, David of Barrie and step-son Master Corporal David of Halifax. Cremation has taken place.
