Obituary of Jordan Ross Strickland
STRICKLAND, Jordan Ross – June 14, 1986 – February 21, 2014 - Jordan Ross Strickland had an awesome day on Friday, February 21, 2014. He got up early to spend the day with one of his best friends Joe, watching Canada win a gold medal in curling and beat the US in hockey. But on his way home, excited to go to his favourite London Knights game that night with his dad and grandma, his life ended suddenly. In his 27 years Jordan touched the lives of so many people without saying a single word. He spoke more clearly than you or I with his sparkling eyes, brilliant smile, hands that held you, infectious laugh, and ears that heard your most intimate secrets that he always kept and made you feel better about. Son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend, camper, co-worker, employer, volunteer, athlete and sports fan, with discerning taste in both people and desserts - Jordan was a man who made many contributions and shared his endless gifts without expecting you to give yours in return. Our hearts are broken forever…. Dad Paul, mom Janice, brother Daniel, and Cabby. Jordan belonged to a large family – grandson of Berdella and George (1997) Kieffer, and Doris and Ross (2014) Strickland; nephew of Kevin Kieffer and Brenda Leahy, JoAnn and John Kennedy, Marilyn Kieffer and Wayne Evans, Allan Kieffer, Martha and Jacques Chouffot, Carol and Ron Hemphill, Mark Strickland and Sascha Dho, David Strickland and Ann Byberg, Peter and Cathy Strickland; cousin of Kellen, Rachel and Liam, Leah and Dave, Colleen and Phil, Michael and Patrick, Matt and Jake, Pierre and Jean-Luc, Jeff and Lila, Aileen and Blaine, Michael, Tessa and Ben, Sarah, Matthew and Adam.
Jordan taught people that our lives are enriched when we ask for help, and we have many people to thank such as family and friends who spent Friday and the days since with us, calling or bringing to us their tears, hugs, wisdom, stories, food, flowers, pictures, songs and memories; the countless people who played important support roles in Jordan’s life, Camp Queen Elizabeth and London Y friends, London Knights fans and friends in section 109, his many friends and co-workers from all the places he has worked and volunteered, Strathroy Hospital Emergency Department, and Middlesex County OPP officers. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North London. A celebration of Jordan’s life will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 1164 Commissioners Road West in Byron with Rev. Bob Remark and Pastor Blair Mercer officiating. Instead of flowers we ask that you please donate to YMCA London Camp Queen Elizabeth, the London Track3 Ski School, or charity of your choice.
