Obituary of Patricia Smith-Bowey

It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of their loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great-aunt Patricia (Edgeworth) Smith-Bowey at University Hospital on Wednesday, February 12th, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Melvin Smith (1985) and the late John A. Bowey (1996). Survived by brothers Frederick Edgeworth (Eva) of Burlington, Richard Edgeworth (Rosemary) and sister-in-law Betty Bailey, all of London. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Norma and Frederick Edgeworth, St. Thomas, C. & O. engineer, and by her sister Elizabeth Edgeworth, brother Paul Edgeworth and sister-in-law Sharon Edgeworth. For 25 years, Patricia and Melvin owned the News Depot Restaurant and Gift Shop in Strathroy. Melvin was a member of Beaver Lodge #83 and Strathroca Shriners. During their retirement years they gave back to their community volunteering for Meals on Wheels and driving cancer patients to the Strathroy Hospital. At Patricia’s request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Patricia’s ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband Melvin in Elmdale Memorial Cemetery, St. Thomas at a later date. In memory of Patricia donations may be made to St. Andrews United Church, 60 West Ave., St. Thomas, N5R 3P7, or to a charity of your choice.
