"Darling, If you serve supper late enough, no one ever complains about your cooking" I always remember Aunt Myra telling me this, and I have quoted her on more than one occasion. I don't know another kitchen table that served more late dinners, brunches or breakfasts than Aunt Myra's. You know we all loved going to the farm-we always had a great time. There were no restraints, so it seemed. However, we all knew not to cross the line. Well, don't get caught, anyway. Aunt Myra was an enabler. She enabled us to get together - at her home - eat together - around her table - enabled us to enjoy music - anywhere we were - around a pool - in a family room - the verandah - you name it - we had music. You know, when I got the news of Aunt Myra's passing, I was talking with Ed - remembering Aunt Myra. Ed asked me how old she would have been when he first met her. Would you believe she was younger than I am now! I couldn't believe it! Where has all the time gone? We have all grown and have families of our own. We seemed to have branched out and lost touch with each other. Sad, but true, but this is life. And now, here we are, through Aunt Myra, the enabler, reuniting us, again, allowing us to celebrate the life that joined so many of us together. Aunt Myra was just 1 of 6 that worked at keeping the families in touch. But I feel I have learned from her, and Uncle Joe, Aunt Joan, Uncle Paul, Mom and Dad. And I hope that I will always have an open door, A place at the table, and music and laughter to offer others as I had growing up. Thanks, Aunt Myra, we will miss you.
