Obituary of Cornelius Johannes Lamers
Peacefully on Saturday, January 25th, 2014, at University Hospital, in his 80th year. Beloved husband of the late Marion (2010). Loving stepfather of Brian Pierce (the late Charlene, née Sutherland), David Sutherland (Joanne) and Gary Sutherland (Shirley). Cherished Grandpa to Robert Pierce and the late Ronald (Danielle) Pierce; Jenny, Brodie, Gavin, Nadine and Nathan Sutherland; and Erin Silbiger. Great Grandpa to Christopher, Tyler, Connor and Nicholas Pierce and Graihson Silbiger. Sadly missed by siblings Peter Lamers (Annie), Annie Vander Heydn (John), Toni van de Wetering, Josie Kersten, Katie Hoefnagels (Tony), “Willie” Hoefnagels (Morris), Alieda Goris (Henk), Corrie Kusters (Bert), Willy Lamers (Agnes), Andy Lamers (Corrie) and Mary Landuyt. Kees was predeceased by his parents Anna (1981) and Martin (1996); his brothers Martin Lamers and John Lamers; his brothers-in-law Joe Landuyt, Peter van de Wetering and John Kersten; and his sister-in-law Lezora Lamers. Special friend and neighbour of George Theissler and the “son he never had”: Mike Camenzuli. Kees was a farmer, a mechanic, and a carpenter who could fix or build anything, and always took great pride in his work. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., with prayers at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. JOSEPH’S CHALDEAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 89 Charles Street, London, on Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Kees are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes Association or the London Health Sciences Foundation – Cancer Centre.
