Obituary of Eleanor Louise Hamilton
It is with great sadness that the family of Eleanor Louise Hamilton announces her passing on Monday, January 20th, 2014 at University Hospital, London, Ontario. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Herb Hamilton; son Rick Jones (Rosalie), granddaughter Nicole Jones deRooy (Jason), and their son Rohan; daughter Barbara Freeman (Dave), granddaughter Tracee Nilsson (Peter) and their daughter, Kristina; and granddaughter Kimberlee Freeman; and son Bill Hamilton (Nancy) and grandchildren Tom, Heather and David Hamilton. Eleanor was predeceased by her loving first husband, Bill Jones, and their daughter, Maureen, as a result of a tragic car accident in Saskatoon in 1956. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Natel Jones; and her siblings Jack, Betty, Phyllis and Peggy. Eleanor was born in Toronto on August 28, 1924, daughter of Ralph and Phyllis (Sinclair) Price. She married Bill in Toronto before he was deployed overseas during World War II and upon his return they moved to his home in Saskatoon. During the war years, Eleanor and her sisters were well known in the Toronto area as the “Four Gorgeous Price Sisters” as they worked for the Red Cross to assist with the war effort. In 1964, Herb and El were married and enjoyed almost 50 happy years together. They loved to travel and were avid golfers. They enjoyed these activities up until the fall that hampered El’s mobility. Mom was devoted to her family and it was her joy to have become a great grandmother twice in recent years. The family would like to give our sincere thanks to the staff of the 4th floor and Palliative Care at University Hospital for their kindness to both Mom and the family during her final days. We would also like to thank the staff at Extendicare for their care of El over the past two and one-half years. It was Mom’s wish that there not be a funeral and that her cremated remains be interred in Saskatoon. The family will gather to remember the good times and raise a glass to a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and nana.
