Obituary of Ernest James Jackson
Peacefully, at University Hospital in London, ON, on Thursday, November 7, 2013, Ernest James Jackson, in his 94th year. Predeceased by his wife Marie (Greaves); parents William and Jesse; brothers Arthur and Phil; sister Margaret, and granddaughter Jessica. Beloved Father of Brian (Phyllis) of Ottawa, Douglas (Pat) of Blenheim, and Gordon (Elizabeth) of Cambridge, ON. A much loved Grandfather to Elyse, Luke, Emily, Erin and Andrew. Uncle to several nieces and nephews. Born in Belleville, he lived in London and Brantford, ON. A proud veteran of WWII, Ernie saw service from 1940-45 in Britain, North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Belgium as part of the Signals Corps of the 5th Canadian Infantry. A long-time Pharmaceutical sales representative for Saunders, ICN, Charles E. Frosst, and Merck Frosst in Southwestern Ontario, Ernie ended his working career as manager of both the Buchan House Businessman’s Club and the London Curling Club. He lived for many years in Cherryhill Village before his move to Chelsey Park Retirement Home two years ago. Many thanks to the staff of Chelsey Park, his medical team at University Hospital, Dr. Dana Moore, the Kiwanis Club of Middlesex, and his many friends in the community who made his twilight years more enjoyable. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. as well as one hour prior to the memorial service being conducted in the chapel on Monday, November 11th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Gifts in remembrance of Ernie may be donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
