Obituary of Karen Dale Scarlett

After a long and courageous battle, Karen Dale Scarlett of London, in her 54th year, passed away at Parkwood Hospital on Wednesday March 20, 2013 surrounded by her family and friends. Loving mother of Matthew Robert Milne, Christopher William Milne and Abagail Elizabeth Scarlett. Dear daughter of Carson and Margaret Scarlett of Kitchener. Survived by her sisters Brenda and Roger Watters of Airdrie, Alberta; Beverley and John Stringile of Bolzac, Alberta; and Kim Detweiler of Kitchener as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her colleagues at University Hospital. Many thanks to Dr. Keith MacDougall and Dr. David MacDonald for their care and expertise and to Dr. Natalie Hertzman for her kindness and compassion during Karen’s final days. Special thanks to Parkwood Hospital’s 5th Floor East Palliative Care Unit nurses for their excellent care and support. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Monday, March 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. where the memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 26th at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date at Oakland Cemetery, London. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
